Anthony Smith
Canada

Major: Sociology

In Canada taxes are a little bit
higher because Canadians are
lucky enough to receive free health
care. My grandmother lives in
Florida, and it is easier for her to
buy a ticket to come to Canada
and receive care than go to the
doctor around the corner from her
house. The flight cost less than the
doctor, so that's what I would say
is the biggest difference between
the United States and Canada.

I would say that the relationship
between friends is really different.
In South America people are
warmer, even if they don't know
each other; people become friends
easily. I also think that many U.S.
citizens are not so open-minded as
they are at home. It is hard to
make good U.S. friends and I
understand it is a cultural thing.
