Inter-Greek Council held its first Greek carnival on April 12-a day of entertainment.

At the carnival there were numerous activities hosted by several Greek organizations. The Sigmas hosted an Arm wrestling table; the Alphas hosted a football toss; the Zetas hosted a brat fry, corn roast and a DJ, and the Phi Deltas hosted a dunk tank. All of the activities took place outside of Lakeland's pub.

The carnival fell on a seed day at Lakeland, so IGC was hoping to be able to teach the new students about Greek life on Lakeland's campus.

"The idea of the Greek carnival was to get the Lakeland College community involved in Greek on campus. IGC also wants to get its name out there. IGC wants Lakeland College to know that IGC does do many things on and off campus...I felt that it was more of a success for IGC rather than for the Lakeland community. I felt that the campus awareness could have been better," said Greg Doiron, IGC president.

IGC has decided to have the carnival the next two years as well. "The Greek carnival is so the Lakeland community can have a fun activity to do," said Alexandra Vlahos, IGC vice president.

There will be also two dances presented by IGC in the future. The first dance will be just for Greeks on campus and the second dance will be for the public. "It's great that IGC is doing something for the Lakeland College community. I think that it's a great idea and will be good for the Greeks. It really shows leadership and that they care about the Lakeland community," said Sandy Gibbons-Vollbrecht, IGC Advisor.

The Greek council is composed of the following groups at Lakeland: Mu Lambda Sigma, Alpha Psi Alpha, Beta Sigma Omega, Zeta Chi, Pi Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Omega.
