Linkin Park has finally come out with their sophomore album, "Meteora." Their first CD, "Hybrid Theory," sold 17 million copies. Does "Meteora" have the same caliber music to produce the same sales as "Hybrid Theory?" It sure does.

"Meteora" starts out with a nice little intro track properly called "Foreward." This track is 13 seconds long and leads into the first actual song called "Don't Stay." All of the songs on the CD flow together extremely well with transitions. There are also excellent intros for each of their songs with funky different sounds. This makes each song have its own distinct beginning so anybody can identify the exact song before it actually begins.

The instrumental part of "Meteora" is exquisite. There are many beats and rhythms that appear, so no two songs are even closely related. There's also a great balance between the heavier songs and the lighter songs. Some of the heavy songs include "Don't Stay," "Hit the Floor," and "Faint." The lighter songs are spaced in between these harder songs. Some examples of lighter songs are the hit "Somewhere I Belong," "Easier To Run," and "Nobody's Listening."

There are also many songs that fit into the middle of the heavy and light category like "Figure.09," "Lying From You," and "Breaking the Habit." There's even an instrumental track called "Session." This track sounds like the track "Cure For The Itch" on "Hybrid Theory," but "Session" has some unique sounds and rhythms that make it better.

The lyrical part of this CD is also superb. All of the songs have a message to them such as the hit song "Somewhere I Belong," a song about a person who holds back the truth of what they are or what they believe. This person then lets out the truth and finds that they aren't the only person in this situation. The person then must find himself or herself to move on in life.

These kind of messages aren't your normal musical messages, but they do relate to everybody in someway or another. The vocals also represent the lyrics well with the screamer, Chester, and the rapper, Mike. This duo puts the emotion into the music. In the song "Faint," Mike does an exceptional job in creating an image of the situation as Chester adds the emotional anger because the song is about having no say in a relationship.

Overall, the album has the caliber to sell 17 million copies or even more. Linkin Park did not disappoint their fans. This band has improved its sound and quality of songs. I can't wait until the third CD comes out. I'll be waiting at the stores with money in hand.
