Leo Gavrilos, director of admissions at Lakeland College, resigned his admissions position at Lakeland College on Apr. 16. Jane Bouche, athletic director at Lakeland, has been named interim admissions director.

President Stephen Gould wouldn't comment on why Gavrilos resigned. Gould said, "His resignation comes at an awkward part of the year" when Lakeland is in its recruitment process.

Gavrilos has been a member of Lakeland's admissions team for 15 years, and has been admissions director for the past seven years. When he started in the department, Lakeland had only 400 full time day students. This past September, the enrollment doubled to 801 students.

"Leo believed deeply in Lakeland College and its mission. He made a lasting positive impact on the College and we are going to miss him immensely," said Dirk Zylman, vice president of college and community relations.

Bouche has been with Lakeland College for 14 years, the past 10 years as athletic director. She's a past head coach of Lakeland's women's basketball and softball teams.

"This is a major challenge," Bouche stated. "The admissions team will be asking all elements of the college to work with us to assure that we have a large incoming class this September."
