Lakeland College Athletic Director Jane Bouche announced Apr. 22 that the school has launched a national search to find a new head men's basketball coach.
Bouche said Lakeland will begin screening applicants as of May 1.
The new coach will replace Paul Combs, who last week was named head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Combs' assistant coaching staff at Lakeland will join him in Platteville.
Lakeland has won back-to-back Lake Michigan Conference championships, and has earned an NCAA Division III regional ranking each of the last two seasons.
Next season, Lakeland will welcome back LMC Player of the Year Ricky Davis (6-foot junior guard, Milwaukee), all-LMC first team honoree Cory Nickel (6-2 junior guard, New Holstein), LMC honorable mention picks Morton Sczmiedowicz (6-9 junior forward, Iceland) and Nick Zeck (6-5 sophomore center, West Allis) and LMC all-rookie team pick Nick Howard (6-2 freshman guard, Sturgeon Bay).
The Muskies were 23-1 at home in LMC regular season games in Combs' four seasons, and played in two LMC Tournament championship games. Lakeland was 60-45 during Combs' four seasons, 30-13 in the LMC.
