The Lakeland men's tennis team has started the season off with numerous rocky performances. Last Thursday they lost a close 5-2 match against Marian. At No. 4 singles Chris Thill (LC) defeated Evan Nicoud (Marian) 6-2, 6-0. At No. 6 singles P.J. Webster (LC) bounced. Michel Batrony (Marian) 6-3; 7-5.

Webster was enthused with the way he played. "I really had my backhand shot right where I wanted it. Just like my golf game, I came out today, and just tried to take my time and make sure my shots counted."

"Coming in as underdogs, all we can do is take every point one at a time and hopefully we can come out on top," said Adam Sherwood, junior, as the conference tourney nears.

Before Marian, Lakeland had dropped a 6-1 loss to Concordia, and a 7-0 demolishing by St. Norberts. Lakeland will be in action again this weekend at the Kohler Sports Core as they take part in the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament starting on Saturday.

Tennis team members include Turki Berrada, Derrick Cherney, Brian Kaufman, Rocky Koeing, Sherwood, Jesse Spearo, Carmelo Teran Gonzalez, Chris Thill, and Webster.
