I thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie Open Range. It was even more enjoyable since I was one of the 500 or so people who paid $100 to see Kevin Costner live in downtown Sheboygan. There was a Hollywood-style premiere at the Stephanie H. Weill Center where Costner arrived in an authentic stagecoach.
Open Range was jam-packed with old west and cowboy fun. Nonetheless, even westerns can get boring at times, and I will admit that it took awhile for the director to develop the plot. However, once the action got going there was no stopping the fast-paced shoot-out scenes. I'm sure many viewers would be interested to know that local businessman Herb Kohler, owner of the Kohler Company, has a part in the movie as the cafe man. He had a few brief appearances that were the surprisingly funny moments of the film.
If you are a fan of westerns and old fashioned gun fights or romance, then Open Range is the film for you. Open Range had me crying in the end and not just because I shook hands with Kevin Costner.
