Although the movie description and trailer of The Order sounds intriguing and original, the actual movie fails miserably to live up to the thrill and suspense one might expect from a "thriller." The movie follows Alex, a priest who belongs to a small order of the Catholic Church, on his journey to Rome to investigate his mentor's death. Later, Alex finds that the death may have been the work of an immortal man called the Sin Eater. (Guess what his job is.)
Aside from being as boring as a long drive through Iowa, the movie fell short on every attempt to be witty. It was dull and overdramatic throughout, especially a scene where sin is transformed into a jellyfish-like form that jumps from the heart of the confessor into the Sin Eater's mouth. An awful script, extreme melodramatic acting, and poor plot execution by the director were comparable to the horrible B-movie Jeepers Creepers. The "sin jellyfish" was enough to lower this movie's rating one star. The Order was supposed to be a thriller, but the only reason to jump and move around was because my butt hurt from sitting through one hour and 45 minutes of this dull, forgettable film.
