Welcome everybody to the show tonight where random people get up on stage and "sing." Well, it isn't exactly random, and it isn't exactly singing, but there were plenty of different people that lit up the stage October 30 during LC cab sponsored, Karaoke night.
The night started out with a sparse crowd at 9:00, but the excitement was yet to come.
With a quick testing of the equipment, we were off and rolling with five girls singing "Like a Virgin," by Madonna. One of the girls commented on the performance by saying that they didn't know all the words, but they still had a fun time.
A couple of songs later, we were treated to some presidential entertainment with the "Love Shack" sang by LC Cab President, Nick Hovde, SA President Luke Pfeifer, and about seven other students. They did an excellent job because they had the guys and girls doing their respective parts. The performers didn't think they did so well however; one of them commented, "[We] didn't even get claps from the drunk people."
The next exciting part happened during a Rammstein song "Du Hast." The Boogie Time Duke, the karaoke company that serves Lakeland, said they only had the words in English, but someone requested it sang in German. Therefore, senior Mike Neuhaus and junior, Justin Monty sang the song in German, taking frequent breaks to sip liquor between verses. A man from the bar handed them new drinks in the middle of the song. At the end of the performance, Monty commented, "Give a shout out to Liebenthal for the beer switch."
Next, senior, Kalen Lind made a ruckus up on stage when he performed Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy." It took him a few lines to catch up to the music, but once he got in a rhythm, he couldn't be stopped except for the fact that he might have had a few too many drinks. During the instrumental part in the middle of the song, he expressed his views about the pub crowd saying, "Why are you just sitting around the pub. You should be drinking beer." After that, I noticed that the crowd was becoming livelier and much packed.
