Writer/Director Quentin Tarantino has never shied away from the off-the-wall, the criminal, the bloody, or the tongue-in-cheek. In most of his movies, he'll combine all four to make a rather messed up flick. With Kill Bill, Volume 1, Tarantino shines once again.

The movie masterpiece follows an assassin played by Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Gattaca) named the Bride as she seeks revenge on her assassin squad leader Bill (David Caradine) and her former colleagues after she wakes up from a four-year coma following the massacre by the squad at her wedding. From there, she creates a list of squad members to kill, starting with Vernita Green, played by Vivica A. Fox (Soul Food, Booty Call ), who is number two on the list but first in the story line, and she continues her revenge with O-Ren Ishii, played by Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels 1 and 2 ), before ending with the obvious notion of a second installment, which is already completed and slated for a February release (hence the "Volume 1" in the title).

Kill Bill takes on B-Movie, Evil Dead style violence and gore with numerous amputations and decapitations, not to mention the amount of blood, which is not for the faint of heart but still awesome, nonetheless, considering the fight scenes in which the blood is shed. Combine that with intellectually silly dialogue and an absolutely incredible (and unexpected) anime interlude explaining the life of O-Ren Ishii, and you have yourself one of the most interestingly stimulating movies ever.
