S cary Movie 3 is a little different than its predecessors. First, it spoofs many types of movies, not just horror movies. Second, two main characters from the previous Scary Movie films, Marlon and Shawn Wayans, are not in the movie. It is debatable whether this is a good or bad thing. Lastly, the movie lacks the one thing the first two had - humor. Scary Movie 3 does have some funny set ups, one of which is the Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy scene that starts the movie, but the director (David Zucker of Airplane and Naked Gun fame) does not follow through on the jokes. In one scene a character, similar to Eminem's Bunny Rabbit in 8 Mile, suffers from the same fate as Eminem, but with a pressed joke thrown in. The jokes in Scary Movie 3 were anticipated and forced. Unlike the first two movies, this installment fails to capture the humor in spoofing a movie.
Scary Movie 3 has an awesome cast including Charlie Sheen as a farmer who finds a crop circle pointing to his home, Anna Faris bringing back her character Cindy Campbell, and Queen Latifah and Eddie Griffith as Matrix characters. There were also cameos by Leslie Nielsen, George Carlin, and the aforementioned blonde bombshells, Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson.
I was looking forward to this movie, but I was disappointed. One thing holding me back from enjoying Scary Movie 3 is that it mainly centers on spoofing The Ring and Signs; and unfortunately, I have not seen The Ring. It's basically dumb jokes, which are not that funny to begin with. Pass on Scary Movie 3 unless a night of stupid nothingness is what you're looking for.
