A few weeks ago, the Lakeland Muskie football team was coming off a devastating conference loss to rival Concordia (WI). Since then, the Muskies have been on a tear.

In their last game against Greenville on November 1, the Muskies had the Panthers turning blue in a 63-13 romp.

It took the Muskies just one quarter to jump out to a 28-0 lead. Marcus Denham opened the scoring with a nine-yard scamper just a minute and a half into the game. Travis Gervais followed five minutes later with a three-yard plunge.

Later in the quarter, Brent Luebke found Jeff Taff twice for two touchdown passes just 41 seconds apart. The first was a 39-yard strike and the second a short, six-yard toss.

The second quarter continued much like the first quarter, with Gerald Starner adding three points with a 20-yard field goal early on to make the score 31-0. On the ensuing kickoff, the Panthers fumbled the ball back to the Muskies. It was one of six Panther fumbles on the day, and it gave Luebke a chance to find Taff for the third time, this time from 40 yards out, to make the score 37-0 after a blocked extra point.

Greenville finally got on the board with a 58-yard pass midway through the quarter. The touchdown made the score 37-7 and it remained that way for the rest of the half.

The Muskies continued to dominate early in the second half. Denham scored for the second time in the game on a two-yard run to extend Lakeland's lead to 44-7.

The Panthers responded with their own touchdown drive, capped off by a 13-yard pass to make the score 44-13. That score marked their last trip to the end zone as the Muskies poured it on afterwards.

Late in the quarter, Lakeland added another six points on a fumble recovery in the end zone.

In the fourth quarter, the Muskies scored on two runs, one by Kenneth Grundy from three yards out and the other by kicker Matt Cook from 19 yards out.

At the end, the Muskies gained 588 yards of offense and held the Panthers to 262. Marcus Denham led all rushers with 100 yards and Brent Luebke added 207 yards passing and three touchdowns. Jeff Taff caught eight balls for 125 yards, three of them for touchdowns.
