Imagine a horror movie where you sit there and say, "Why doesn't he just tell that person to give him the information straight." This is one of those movies where it actually happens as Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy) wants to get the mystery of the mansion solved without all of this running around.

Murphy plays an excellent role as a cheap real estate agent who will say and do anything for a sale. Jim Evers sells houses as part of a partnership called Evers and Evers Reality with his wife. The slogan is, "Evers and Evers reality, where you'll be happy for Evers and Evers."

The relationship between Jim and his wife, Sara (Marsha Thomason), has gotten worse due to Jim's new success and a lot of time spent at work. They end up planning a family trip, but Jim wants to make a stop to check out a potential house to sell.

This stop is, of course, the haunted mansion. They end up staying there for the night and are put through an adventure involving ghosts, zombies, and even a talking glass ball.

Humorous situations occur all of the time, but pay attention; about half of them are subtle. There was adult humor and kiddie humor, so adults can also have a few laughs.

The plot of this movie was put together pretty well, but as all Disney movies go, it was pretty predictable. Nevertheless, for some family fun or a night out with the friends, this could be a movie to satisfy your hunger for comedy.
