Never miss a game... even in the bathroom at The Skybox

In this issue, I went to check out one of Sheboygan's newest combination bar/restaurants. I went on what I was expecting to be a busy Monday night, right at the start of Monday night football. I must say, walking into the Skybox, I was impressed right away. The interior is immaculate. As you walk in, you are greeted by one of the waitresses and asked if you would rather be at the bar or in the restaurant section. My compatriot and I, being suckers for football games and being able to talk about them, decided to go to the restaurant area, where we were the only patrons; however, there were about 15-20 people in the bar area which is ample.

As we settled in, we had noticed that the game wasn't on, and we were a little concerned about not being able to see Monday Night Football while we were there, but our fears were relieved when all of the skyboxes, about 25 - 30 TVs, switched over to the game right as they were introducing the announcers. By this time we were browsing the menu which, while it isn't that big, is very amusing, with most of its food and sections relating to sports. The one that stuck out the most in my friend's and my mind was the children's menu, delightfully called "The Minor Leagues." I ordered my Spotted Cow pint, and then we placed an appetizer order. We ordered Mozzarella sticks, which, while good, left us with a bad taste in our mouths due to the price. You get five sticks for $4.75; that's almost a dollar per Mozzarella stick. Appetizers aside, the prices were pretty good. I ended up ordering the Double Play, which is a hamburger on top of a bratwurst patty and some French fries. The food came very quickly; the portions were huge, so large that my vacuum of a roommate could hardly finish his Chicago-style hotdog. Our entrées were about six dollars a piece, which was very low compared to the amount of food received. We decided to top off our meal with a piece of cheesecake, so we ordered one that the waitress suggested- peanut butter with a chocolate crust. After a couple of minutes, she came back empty handed; they had run out, but we decided to try another selection. We were brought two plates of chocolate chip cheesecake. It was marvelous.

Now, for those of you that love your sports and would hate to miss any second of your favorite team walloping its archrival, fear not; you can get up and go to the bathroom and watch TV on one of two televisions there. That, to me, put this place over the top of a normal sports restaurant. The Skybox is a great place to go for a less fancy version of your favorite food, but beware, expect to get inundated with food, and don't forget to bring your appetite for your favorite sports.
