Let's wake up, gentleman. I may be old fashioned, but I care about people, all people; I treat them the way that I want to be treated, especially women.

We all know the inhumane smell at the zoo, that sweltering stench of animal dung. The caged animals are there, incapable of rational thought or dignity. They prowl around the cage and aggress at any piece of meat tossed into the den, following their crude instincts to fulfill needs.

Higher education's goal is to teach students to be ethical, functioning members of society separate from animals. Of course, that's how it would be in a perfect world, but it is not happening on this campus.

As a guy, I find it exciting when new people, especially women, come to school. I tire of seeing the same faces day after day, and it is nice to see fresh ones.

However, guys, when freshmen women come to campus, they are freshmen not freshmeat. I have seen and heard about freshmen who can't even walk to Bossard for some steak and onion rings without some guys thinking they are the entrée. They eye them up from across the room, touch them when they don't want to be touched, and make pigheaded comments.

When the day is over and it's time to party, it gets even worse.

When guys hit on women at a party and all they're after is sex, it is easy to see. They waddle around like infants who have just plumped up their diapers but still want a cookie regardless. They might as well drool.

For those "heroes" out there who keep a running tally of the girls they used and abused, I don't care how drunk she was, and I don't care how skimpy her skirt was; you are animals subservient to the flesh. If you're happy where you are, you are no better than a beast and will never find the physical fulfillment you seek.

I am not talking about every single guy on earth. I know several men my age who feel the exact same way I do. We are caring, respectful, and, often times, we get screwed over by the jerks, the "bad guys," but we put up with it because we would rather suffer ourselves than hurt anyone else.
