The meeting began with discussion about abuse of the security golf carts. Concerns about employees not doing their jobs were explained.
In secretary reports, Leann Hupfer reported that Mark Dotz has resigned his position as the Non-Traditional representative.
The meeting then moved to cabinet reports beginning with Academic Affairs. There was
an on-campus curriculum meeting last week. It was mentioned that changes were made
to the Spanish and German curriculum that had to do with the number of credits each
major needs.
In athletic affairs, SAC is still waiting for new equipment for the weight room to arrive. There will also be repairs to the broken machines in the weight room. Money from the 50/50 raffles done at basketball games and other fundraisers will be donated from SAC to a Lakeland staff member.
Pledging was mentioned in Greek affairs; it began the week of January 19th.
Then public relations reported that signs for open positions on SA will be made and Valentine's Dance posters will be put up as soon as possible.
In residence life, there are many events going on around campus throughout the month of February, including a Super Bowl party in the pub on the first and a resume building workshop in Muehlmeier lounge on February 2. There was also a Gaelic Storm concert on February 4. There will an American History X showing on the 6th, and Condom Bingo on the 9th. In addition, every Tuesday night this month, there will be a different comedian in the pub. It was also noted that there will be two free laundry weekends this semester tentatively scheduled for February and April.
The meeting then was opened up for committee reports beginning with updates on the Valentine's Day Dance. Matt Behringer would like all SA members to suggest three fast songs and one slow song that they would like to hear. Food for the dance will consist of cheese and crackers, fruit, and chicken on a stick because nothing says "I love you" better than meat on a stick!
