Nominate a Teacher for the 2004 Unerkofler Award

Students and faculty are invited to nominate a Lakeland College faculty member to receive this year's James R. Underkofler Excellence in Under-graduate Teaching award. This award, which includes a cash prize, will be presented at the Lakeland Honors Banquet on April 14.
Criteria for receiving the award are the following:
- The recipient is a faculty member who has been employed full time by the college for at least three years and is teaching undergraduate courses.
- The recipient demonstrates outstanding performance and excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- The recipient was not a recipient of the Underkofler award within the past five years. (Winners within the past five years are Kathy Rath Marr, Michael Devaney, Martha Schott, Lucretia Crawford and Meg Albrinck.)
To nominate a faculty member, you should write a detailed one-page nomination letter explaining why you feel this candidate deserves this recognition. Nomination letters are due to Gwen Schroeder, administrative assistant to the VP for academic affairs, by Friday, March 5. You can take letters of recommendation to Schroeder's office, 205 WAK, or e-mail them to her at schroederg@lakeland.edu.
The James Underkofler Endowment Fund is created in honor of Mr. James R. Underkofler and his 48 years of service to the utility industry as a means of honoring and recognizing the importance of excellence in undergraduate teaching. It's presented through the Alliant Energy Foundation and the Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges, Inc.
The award selection committee is composed of past recipients of the award, an alumni representative and Lakeland student representatives. If you would like additional information about the Underkofler award, please contact Gwen Schroeder in the Office of Academic Affairs, ext.1290, 205 WAK.
