Janet Jackson Brings Whole New Meaning to 'Boob-Tube'

Point: Janet bustin' out all over the place

As the lyrics to a popular rap song say, "I'm Sorry Miss Jackson," maybe what it really should say is, "I'm Sorry New England Patriots." Why? For stealing the thunder on their Super Bowl victory. Perhaps, if they would have exposed themselves like that one crazed streaker, in front of 140 million TV watching viewers and the 70,000 plus fans in the stadium, the Patriots could regain the spot light. For those of you who missed it, I'm sorry for you too. But for those of you who were tuned in, it was entertainment at its finest. When I said entertainment, I wasn't speaking of the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake "costume malfunction" itself, but I meant the half time show as a whole. It might create some controversy, but then again, what doesn't these days? It was one of the best Super Bowl shows of this century.

Where should I start? The show was mainly centered around the younger generation, featuring artists like Nelly, P. Diddy, Kid Rock, Janet Jackson, and Justin Timberlake. This probably startled many of the 140 million viewers, due to all those fast rap-words making no sense.
Then there was Kid Rock, sporting his American flag shaul. This was an automatic controversy that I'm sure only he could pull off, just listen to some of the lyrics in his songs. However, Rock was indeed acting out of conduct as he violated Section 8, letter D of the American Flag Code of Conduct. According to www.ushistory.org, "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." Then again, this section claims that flag printed napkins are also a violation.

Finally, the icing on the cake was Jackson and Timberlake's risqué performance.

Once again some Americans and the media bureaucrats have successfully turned probably the best choreographed dance into a huge publicity scandal. In an article by David Bauder from the Associated Press, Bauder mentions six different events that have been affected or modified due to Jackson and Timberlake's performance, from CBS allowing a five minute delay at the Grammy's to "edit any offensive images," to a Knoxville Tennessee banker who filed suit on Jackson, Timberlake, CBS, MTV, and Viacom. In Bauder's article, the banker said, "The sexually explicit conduct by the performers caused millions of people to suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury."
