Next year there will be hall changes to accommodate the influx of students coming to campus. All students living on campus will be affected by the changes.
Grosshuesch and Muehlmeier halls will both be all male dorms next year, while Krueger will still be all female. The college is doing this so it can accommodate all of the students who are expected to live on campus next year.
Right now, there are two hundred spaces open for incoming freshman; however, the college expects at least 300 new freshmen next year.
"With all the incoming students there's not a lot of wiggle room, so we expect rooms to be tripled up" Said Bajczyk, director of Residence Life.
"Some people have actually wanted to stay in the triple rooms because they like the people they're with and they want to continue to get the discount."
Right now there is no guarantee that people won't be tripled up, but those students who haven't already signed up for rooms should see Bajczyk.
To solve the problem of rooms, the college will build a new residence hall next to Krueger and the Bradley building.
"The new Residence hall is expected to be online August 2005. It will have 100 beds" Bajczyk said.
The new hall is going to be geared towards sophomores who are not living in the suites or apartments yet but want to get out of the dorms.
"As you get older your privacy needs increase and your circle of friends decreases" Bajczyk, said.
Students are encouraged to attend the ground breaking ceremony and end of the year bash on Friday April 23 at 3:00 pm. The festivities will include a DJ, a pie eating contest, lime Jell-o Wrestling, and a performance by the band Honey Tongue.
A winner will also be announced in the "Name the New Hall" contest where students get a chance to pick a temporary name for the hall. The winner will receive free room and board for one month.
