Over 800 students will receive diplomas from Lakeland's traditional day, adult evening, online programs and graduate studies programs.
The commencement ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Athletic Center. Lakeland's baccalaureate service begins at 11 a.m. in the Bradley Fine Arts Building.
Lakeland will also recognize the local contributions of Pete Dye, one of the world's greatest golf course architects.
Dye, the designer of Kohler Co.'s Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits, will be awarded a doctor of humane letters for the impact his creations have had on Sheboygan County.
Dye has designed four of the "Greatest 100 Courses in the U.S." as ranked by Gold magazine, including Blackwolf Run. Whistling Straits will host the 2004 PGA Championship this August.
Keyes, who will receive a doctor of laws, worked for Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls, Wisconsin's largest public corporation, for over 30 years.
Keyes, who has been included on Forbes magazine's America's Most Powerful People list, joined the manufacturer of automotive systems and facility management controls in 1967. He became chief financial officer in 1978, a director in 1985, chief executive officer in 1988 and was named chairman of the Johnson Controls board of directors in 1993.
Under Keyes' leadership, Johnson saw sales quadruple and record profits despite two U.S. recessions and a domestic auto industry that was struggling.
Keyes, a graduate of Marquette University, has been a Marquette Trustee since 1988. He serves as a director for LSI Logic, Navistar International, Pitney Bowes and the Chicago Federal Reserve. He also serves on the executive committees of the Manufacturers Alliance and the National Association of Manufacturers and is a member of the boards of trustees for the Medical College of Wisconsin and United Way.
The Rev. Bill Rishel, pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ,
Plymouth, and a 1977 Lakeland graduate, will deliver Lakeland's baccalaureate address, "Adding or Subtracting," based of Luke 4:16-22; and Micah 6:6-8.
Rishel grew up in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1973. In 1977, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lakeland with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, history and religion.
Rishel attended United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cites (formerly Mission House) and graduated in 1982 with a master of divinity degree. He later attended the Minnesota Consortium of Theological Schools pursuing a doctor of ministry degree.
Rishel was called to First Congregational UCC in 1982 and has served as its pastor and teacher for 22 years. In addition, he has served the Wisconsin Conference of the UCC in several leadership roles.
Rishel served as the founding member and convener of the Cooperating Churches of Greater Plymouth for 21 years, and is a member of the Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization's Executive Committee.
