Muehlmeier an all guys dorm? Well, almost, with one exception-Lindsey Morden, their new hall director. When asked how she felt about being the only female, Lindsey said it was "educational." She has found out that the expression What's Up? has two different meanings. When guys say, "What's Up?" they don't always want to know "what's up," such as a detailed plan of your task at hand; they are in fact just looking for a head nod.

Before coming to Lakeland College, Lindsey attended Beloit College in Wisconsin and earned degrees in both Psychology and Pre. Med. She described Beloit College as being very similar to Lakeland. She was very involved in not only her studies on campus, but campus life as well. She was a Resident Assistant for two years and held many leadership roles in clubs on campus. Lindsey also ran track for two years at Beloit, competing in pole vaulting and the 400 meter run, continuing the sport from high school.

After completing college, she decided to take some time off and work in Residence Life before she headed to medical school. Lindsey visited many other schools such as Ripon and Concordia, but she found Lakeland College to be "perfect"- a small friendly school in which people reached out to you even if they didn't know you. She felt as though she related to the student body and that she needed to be here and grow here herself.

Since classes have started, Lindsey has taken on many other roles besides that of a hall director. She is co-advising IGC (Inner Greek Council) this year and is Lakeland's Community Service Coordinator. She will be helping students find community service projects within the local area. Matt Behringer and the rest of the Muehlmeier staff are planning to join with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to start a Lunch Buddies Program with help from Lakeland College volunteers.

With all her commitments at hand, Lindsey still finds time to enjoy other passions. She is really into crafts and also an avid long distance runner. Right now she is in the process of making Sally Rutledge and herself matching fairy costumes for Halloween. Lindsey says, "I want to be Martha Stewart, but not a crook."

She is also running routinely here at Lakeland not only for fun, but for training. Lindsey is conditioning for the 26.2 mile LaSalle Bank of Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 10th.

The flat looped course she will challenge is claimed to be one of the fastest in the world, taking runners through over twelve Chicago neighborhoods. As a high school senior, Lindsey set a goal for herself while attending a leadership conference-before she turned 25 she was going to complete a marathon. She would like to finish the Chicago Marathon in under four hours. Right now she has timed herself at completing 16 miles in 2 hours and 16 minutes. This week she will be running 20 miles to get ready for the upcoming race. With all the encouragement from students and faculty members at Lakeland, she should be ready to make her goal a success.
