This year's women's tennis team at Lakeland is a rather inexperienced team. The group consists of 10 women, with a total of four collegiate years of experience between them all.

Although inexperienced, the team is showing promise. At their first meet on Saturday, September 11th, the Lady Muskies lost two matches to Marian and Dominican, 2-7 and 1-8, respectively.

Even though they lost, Coach Michael Devaney "saw an improvement in players from that morning to that afternoon."

A loss against Concordia on September 14 put the team down to an 0-3 record for the season, but they would finally break into the win column against Mount Mary on September 17.

Lisa Hentges, Mary Stockman, Meggan Saak, and Chizuru Masuda all won singles matches for Lakeland, while Hentges and Stockman won their doubles match, and Masuda teamed with Katherine Wilson also won their doubles match.

On September 18, Hentges again would lead the Muskies with two wins (singles and doubles), but as a team, Lakeland lost 5-4.

Despite the rough start, the team has improved greatly, and Coach Devaney is highly optimistic about the team's future this season.

The team will be playing at Howards Grove high school rather than on campus this year due to construction. Their next meet is today at home against Wisconsin Lutheran.
