Medical assistance can now be provided by the new nurse practitioner from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and Thursdays for a service charge of $25.
Rhonda Adler offers her care in the nurse's office, which is located in the Campus Center next to the office of Margaret Teske, Housing and Campus Center Coordinator.
The care that Adler offers is equaled by a family doctor that people usually see at a local clinic. She can examine and treat many types of illnesses such as sore throats, chronic headache, asthma, allergies, sprains, and strains.
"I treat a broad array of illnesses, but if they need further examination that I can't provide, then I can recommend them to a person who specializes in that field," said Adler.
Other kinds of care that Adler can provide are sports physicals and male and female wellness exams.
Any further medical assistance in the form of prescriptions, X-rays, and lab work must be paid for through insurance or by the patient and will be performed at a clinic that has the necessary instruments.
The office offers an examining table, an eye chart, and a variety of medical equipment. The current equipment is adequate to perform most of the services that are offered.
"We are still working on getting more instruments for the room to improve our examinations," said Adler.
Students can feel safe visiting Adler without anybody else knowing because all of the treatment and care that occurs in the office is strictly confidential.
"Everything that is said in here, stays in here," Adler confirms.
