As the sweet smell of autumn chills fill the atmosphere, so do the eerie chills that move throughout one's body. Halloween is on its way. It is time to scare your pants off, to scare your friend's pants off, and to believe.
All over the United States one can find numerous haunted sightings of ghosts, UFOs, and more. Wisconsin is no different.
Here is a list some of Wisconsin's haunted places found with the help of theshadowlands.net. Remember, these are reported tales, and not all may be true...what ones can you believe?
* In Canton, Wisconsin at the Bantley Graveyard there have been reports of ghosts. During the day shadows follow you if you walk on the road near the cemetery. At night ghostly spirits have been sighted. This place is popular for teenagers to party at.
If you go over 25 mph over the bridge next to the graveyard, your brakes will go out on the vehicle that you are driving. Legend has it that a man by the name of Bantley killed his family and then hung himself in the barn next to the graveyard. There used to be a cult that used the barn for its own religious purposes. A birdbath located in the graveyard, still has bloodstains from the sacrifices that used to be done there.
* In Eau Claire, at the rope swing downtown, college students have been disappearing from the area. People have reported seeing strange figures and have heard little children crying; the sounds are coming clearly from down by the water.
The legend has it, if you go there on the 12th and 1st of every month and swing off the rope you will get caught and pulled under by the children. Many have been reported missing; one body was found in the water close to the shore.
* In Glenbeulah, at the Glenbeulah Cemetary, you can find graves dating back to the early 1800s. Legend has it, a man hung himself there in a tree. He can be seen walking around after midnight.
A gravestone glows with a pair of shoes on the grave. This cemetery was featured on Unsolved Mysteries in the mid 1990s and they came up with ghost activity.
