The Lakeland women's volleyball team has recently lost three out of four games in the UW-Platteville tournament. Those losses drop the Muskies record to 9-8.

Their conference record of 2-1 puts them in a three-way tie for fourth with Concordia-Chicago and Rockford. The recent 3-1 lost to Marian was heartbreaking considering Marian lost to Northland, a team Lakeland beat on September 23, in three straight games.

"I thought the Northland match was the most complete match we've played all year," head coach Chad Schreiber said. "We could have cleaned up our skill level a bit at times, but we excelled at first touch ball control and our defensive plays and digs helped our ability to get into a flow on offense."

On that same day, Lakeland lost an interesting five game match against UW-Stout. Lakeland showed promise by winning the first game, but didn't start well in the next two games. The Muskies rallied back in the fourth game only to lose the fifth and final game.

The Muskies did start out the NAC 2-0 by picking up a 3-1 win against the Benedictine Eagles.

Heidi Kramer leads the offensive side of the court with 152 kills so far this season. Ashley Domask and Shelly Bruni have also contributed 142 and 140 kills, respectively.

On the defensive end, Domask is a workhorse, leading the team in digs with 224. Brittanie Paulus has also accounted for a big part of this defense with 191 digs. Bruni has shown she can get above the net on defense by leading the team in blocks with 35.

Jessica Sparling leads the conference in assists with 10.43 a game (657 total).

The Muskies will look to bounce back from the conference loss to Marian and the poor showing at the UW-Platteville tournament with three straight conference games. Lakeland will travel to Aurora and Concordia on October 4 and October 7, but will host Rockford on Friday, October 6, in the Lakeland "Aquarium."
