The Lakeland women's basketball team won a decisive game on Dec. 2 over new conference foe Aurora 65-54.
Even though Lakeland didn't make any of their eight three pointers attempted, they shot almost 40 percent from the floor and out rebounded Aurora 50 to 34.
The Muskies came out shooting 47 percent in the first and constructed a 35-27 lead at intermission. In the second half, the defense took over and held Aurora to 28 percent shooting.
Jenna Boehm controlled the paint once again with an outstanding 29 point performance going 11 for 15 and grabbing six rebounds. Duranceau also fought the inside and gathered a team-high 12 rebounds and recorded nine points, two assists, a block and a steal.
"This game well gelled together and played well," said Boehm. "Last game we were all on a different page, but today we came out and played really well together. I think we're starting to understand the way each person plays."
Freshman Megan Chart recorded her first double digit scoring game with 11 points and also had four rebounds and three assists.
Freshman Brittanie Paulus had a wonderful defensive game with six rebounds, five steals and two blocks. She also added six points and three assists offensively.
"I know basketball is a game of runs and a good team like Aurora is going to have that," said head coach April Arvan. "But I wasn't too worried because we were doing a good job taking care of the ball."
