The Lakeland men's basketball team suffered a loss to UW-La Crosse on Nov. 24, 91-81.
Lakeland broke out of the gates with a 24-16 lead, but it was quickly negated by a 14-2 run. The Muskies were only down by six going into the locker room, 46-40.
Lakeland would never see the lead in the second half, but they did climb to within two points when Danny Ehnert hit a three pointer, making it 80-78. After that, UW-La Crosse took care of business.
"We played great for 34 minutes of the game and we did a good job of making them play at our pace," said head coach Kyle Brumett. "It was those three minute stretches that we didn't, that they were able to capitalize on."
The Muskies had four players score double digits. Junior Shane Grube led the team with 17 points on five of six shooting with two of three coming from behind the arc and added five rebounds.
Matt Rogers had a solid game contributing 16 points on four of ten from the floor and eight of ten from the line. Junior Kris Saiberlich had a good day from the three point line hitting three of eight and put up 16 points.
Junior Danny Ehnert hit five of nine shots to score 13 points and three assists. He also had five rebounds and two steals.
The Muskies shot an impressive 43 percent from the floor, but the defense gave up an unacceptable 53 percent shooting.
