The Lakeland men's basketball team is currently at press time winless and stuck at 0-3 overall, 0-1 in conference. If you think it doesn't look good for the Muskies, maybe you should check the statistics.

Within the first three games under new head coach, Lakeland has improved their scoring from 58 points to 81 points to an amazing 94 point performance against the team that was picked to win the conference and has a pre-season All-American on their roster.

In the 65-58 loss to Lake Forest, three players reached double digits in scoring; Aaron Regal led the team with 14 points. When Lakeland dropped the game to UW-La Crosse 91-81, four players put up double digits with Shane Grube leading the pack with 17.

The most recent loss against Aurora 101-94, Lakeland had four more players hit double digits, including a huge 31 point performance by Matt Rogers.

Head coach Kyle Brumett's offense is putting up the points that it is designed to do. In the first game, the Muskies looked a little sluggish in their first game with the new style offense. The past game against Aurora looked more like the high octane type of offense.

If the Muskies keep this up, then they might set the record by putting up over 200 points in a game like Lincoln did against Ohio State-Marion on Dec. 2. That might be an exaggeration, but I feel that there are good things coming for the Muskies.

Grube was awarded the NAC player of the week honors for Nov 20-Nov 26 in men's basketball with his performance at UW-La Crosse where he sunk five of his six shots from the floor, including two of three from behind the arc and put up 17 points with six rebounds.

Rogers leads the team in the first three games in scoring with 23.5 points per game (ppg). Kris Saiberlich is second with 15.7 ppg. Regal leads the team with 15 assists.

Danny Ehnert has a team-high 22 rebound over three games with Grube tallying 15 for second. Saiberlich lead the team with eigtht three pointers.

Over the break, Lakeland will play five conference games, including home games on Jan 3 against Concordia-WI and Jan 6 against Edgewood.
