The Lakeland College women's basketball team won a close game on Nov. 21 against Elmhurst on the road 71-66.
Lakeland went into the half with a 40-28 lead, but Elmhurst fought back with tough defense and an aggressive half court trap to tie up the game with 1:47 left. Lakeland went ahead and kept the lead to finish out the game.
"They dealt with the half court trap spectacularly," said head coach April Arvan. "I didn't help them out very much because I didn't want to waste a time out after I had already taken a few, so they kind of had to suffer through that one on their own. With that in mind, they did very well."
Jenna Boehm, who was in foul trouble early, dominated inside the paint hitting 60 percent of her shots, putting up 21 points and snagging four rebounds.
Forward Danielle Duranceau grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds while adding eight points. Freshman guard Emily Agner played wonderfully off the bench by adding six points and seven rebounds.
The Muskies came off the bench and lifted the team with two three pointers and finished with six points, two rebounds, and one assist.
Brittanie Paulus and KC Blahnik both contributed eight points. Blahnik snagged six rebounds as Paulus grabbed four. Senior Amanda Thielmann also added eight points.
Lakeland and Elmhurst both shot around 38 percent from the field, but Lakeland out rebounded Elmhurst 48 to 33.
