On Nov. 18, the Lakeland men's basketball team played their first game with new coach Kyle Brumet against Lake Forest. The Muskies suffered a 65-58 loss.
Lakeland shot a respectable 38 percent from the floor, but Lake Forest sunk 52 percent of their shots, including 61 percent shooting in the second half.
The Muskies jumped out to an early and held a nine point lead with 6:42 left in the half. Lake Forest went on a 14-0 run and Lakeland was down 27-23 at the break.
Lakeland climbed back into the game to lead by two with 3:45 left, 53-51. Lake Forest regained the lead and ran with it.
"Our energy was good we played really hard, but we just didn't cash in and we didn't execute," explained Brumett. "Lake Forest turned it over 24 times and we lost the game. That should never happen, but it happened because we turned it over 19 times."
Aaron Regal led the team with 14 points, three assists and three steals. Kris Saiberlich also scored double digits in points, 13, and went eight for eight from the line, but was only one for eight from three point range.
Sophomore Peter Worth came off the bend and contributed ten points and three steals. Junior Danny Ehnert had a team-high with seven rebounds and added five points.
