In first game of the "Play with Grace" Tip-Off Tournament on Nov. 17, Lakeland fell to MSOE 52-47. The Muskies were in control most of the game, but MSOE came back late in the second half and finished victorious.

The inside tandem of Jenna Boehm and Danielle Duranceau combined for 31 points. The guard play was lacking going 4-24.

"Our senior inside kids did the job we expected them to do, but we had a real tough time with our guard play," said head coach April Arvan. "Our guard play is pretty young and inexperienced and our experienced guard play, being Brenda (Paulson) and Amanda (Thielmann), went one for ten."

Arvan started three freshman guards: Brittanie Paulus, Megan Chart and KC Blahnik. All these players showed skills but lacked the savvy play that experience will help build.

Boehm was excellent from the floor going six for eleven and hit all four of her free throws, totaling 16 points. Duranceau finished the game with 15 points and three assists.

Paulus had a fantastic game besides the zero for six shooting. She compiled eight rebounds, four blocks, four steals, two assists and sunk both of her free throws. Blahnik also took care of rebound with seven and finished with seven points, including one of Lakeland's two three pointers.

The Muskies shot a respectable 35 percent from the floor, but let MSOE hit 40 percent of their shots.

"I told our girls after the game that we dropped our first game of the year last year and had a 21 win season," said Arvan.
