With an introduction like that there was no doubt it was going to be an amazing show.
The five members of Gaelic Storm, Patrick Murphy, Steve Twigger, Ellery Klein, Ryan Lacey and Peter Purvis, did not disappoint.
Friday, Feb. 9 marked Gaelic Storm's fourth time performing in Lakeland College's Krueger Fine Arts Series, the first time since 2003.
Throughout the night, Patrick and Steve kept the audience entertained between numbers.
"We have a motor home and it broke down on Sunday in Minneapolis," Patrick explained.
As of Friday morning, and after a couple thousand dollars, it still hadn't been completely repaired.
Gaelic Storm was forced to rent a couple cars to get to Lakeland on time for the performance.
"I am driving as fast as I can," Patrick said. Then police sirens sounded behind them. It was Officer Krueger. Patrick said to the officer, "We're playing in your house tonight!"
According to Steve, Patrick tried explaining that he "was on cruise control and [had] set it to 75." As if that was an excuse for speeding.
Patrick claims the only reason he got out of a ticket was because he was wearing, what else other than a gold Packers sweatshirt. Gaelic Storm was again on their way to Sheboygan (without a speeding ticket).
Gaelic Storm kept the audience involved with many songs from their most recent CD, Bring Yer Wellies.
The second half of the show included a lot of crowd participation.
A group of men stood up and sang along with the words to "Never Drink 'Em Dry (Johnny Tarr's Funeral)." Before singing their original version, they played Norah Jones, Michael Jackson, Elvis and Lynyrd Skynyrd versions.
During "Me and the Moon" the men and women had a competition to see who was louder. During the chorus the women yelled "I brought the whiskey" and the men yelled "He brought the light."
This game ended with the song and Patrick concluded, "You know, in a special way we're all winners."
"Don't go for 'The One'" was another crowd favorite. Many people sang along, especially the chorus.
Gaelic Storm ended the concert with "Scalliwag." This number had recently been recorded for a movie to be released soon and will be featured on the FIFA Cup video game from EA Games.
Following much crowd applause and cheering, Gaelic Storm's five members took the stage again for an encore.
"Kiss Me I'm Irish" was welcomed with members of the crowd singing along.
The final song of the night was "Beggarman."
After the concert, Patrick, Steve, Ellery, Ryan and Peter greeted their fans and signed CD's, shirts, programs and other souvenirs.
Although Gaelic Storm has performed at Lakeland four times now, it was Peter's first.
"Last time we played here was six months before he joined," Ellery said.
Why do they keep coming back to Lakeland?
"We love Wisconsin," Peter said.
According to Ellery, "It's the food in the dining hall!"
"It's just so much fun here. We love Sheboygan!" Patrick said.
This was the fourth time they sold out the Bradley Building. Gaelic Storm attracts a wide range of fans, from elementary school children to grandparents. Tickets were sold to the pubic for $25 a piece. Lakeland students, faculty and staff received free admission. The performance counted as one convocation credit for students.
