Three players on the Lakeland women’s basketball team that earned NAC conference awards for their play this season: point guard Becca Tilleman, forward Jess Genke, and center Allison Davis.
After finishing the year with an 18-8 overall record, including 13-6 in conference play, the Muskies lost in the first round loss of the NAC playoffs at home to Concordia University Wisconsin, 56-44.
Genke, a sophomore, was named NAC second team and led the Muskies in scoring, with 12.1 points-per-game, and in rebounding, with nine-per-game.
“It was great having three girls get recognized and represent our team as a whole,” Genke said. “Tills (Becca Tilleman) was a huge part of the team, and I was a bit surprised she didn’t get a little more recognition. Overall, though, it was awesome.”
Tilleman, a senior, was named NAC honorable mention. She led the Muskies in minutes played, assists, and steals. She also finished the season ranked number one in the NCAA Division III in assist to turnover ratio, with 2.74.
“I feel honored that I was mentioned and brought up in conference voting,” Tilleman said. “I’m proud of my two teammates for receiving votes as well. They deserved it.”
Davis, also a senior, was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the second time in her career and averaged 4.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
”I feel that Jess was fairly represented, but Tills definitely deserved more recognition,” Davis said. “We had so many threats on our team this year that there was no way our whole team could have been fairly represented. I pride myself in being coachable and respectful both on and off the court, so, for me, it is an honor to have received my award.”
